Bull elk on Johnson Mountain Ranch, Utah

Elk Hunting for Healing After a Family Tragedy

Last year, tragedy struck the Spencer Family when two brothers died from carbon monoxide poisoning while on a hunt. So sportsmen got together to give a son who lost his father, and a grandfather who lost two sons, a bull elk hunt.

The family traveled to Johnson Mountain Ranch C.W.M.U. in Central Utah, where the landowner, Bob Thomas, invited them to stay at his lodge and guided them both. It’s an emotional story of hunting and healing, and the power of family ties amidst the tragedy of extreme loss.
