Caught this spot filled brown trout early on the Middle Provo River off a hand made marabou jig I tied myself. I love the red spots and the hint of blue on the side of his head. Gorgeous hard fighting fish!

Taking my son and his friend on his first Lake Powell trip. We were there for about 5 minutes and he wanted to go fishing. I pointed at my bow and said “Tear wild!” (he had never used a fish setup on a bow before) and I headed back up to the truck. I soon got a phone call from my son saying “Dad! Dad! Eli shot a carp!” I said “Cool son”. He replied, “It is a big one!” “All carp are big.” “This one is really big” “Whatever, I will be there in a minute” As I walked around the dock to where the two boys were I saw the fish laying on the dock, “Oh Carp” I exclaimed. Out of all the fun and beauty they all experienced on that trip to Lake Powell, Eli says that the best part was the first five minutes. He will never forget it.

Last week my son Easton and I camped in Grand Teton National Park and had an amazing time fishing the Snake River just before sunset. Earlier in the day while kayak fishing the river, a random act of kindness from a man named Dustin was given to me via a shuttle back to my truck and a tip on where to shore fish. Later that night Karma visited. A bear scared my son and I away from where we were fishing and I was able to catch some video and pics of some young men catching fish that let us fish near them. They happened to be Dustin’s son and his friend. What a small world. Thanks for being a great person and raising your son right Dustin! People like you make the phrase, the great outdoors, ring true.
