Jace Jones (13 years old) took his first deer on opening morning of the Cache rifle deer hunt. The Cache unit is a primitive weapons hunt unit for mule deer so Jace was hunting with a single shot .243 using open sights. The deer walked into the basin right at first light and Jace made a great shot at 120 yards. His father Ryan and grandfather Rick couldn’t have been more proud!

Silo’s first hunt was the rifle deer hunt that started out with excitement and hope to get his first deer. As the day went on and not seeing any bucks we saw a grouse on a log, his uncle asked him if he wanted to shoot it. Without a second to ask a second time silo was already out of the side by side and said yes. He shot it. He handed mom the gun and his uncle Dusty told him there was another one, he shot that one that triggered a third one to fly up and he shot that one. . So in about 30 seconds he had three grouse. This totally made up for not seeing any bucks let alone getting his first deer. Not sure who was more excited Silo or his Uncle Dusty Later that day he shot his limit. The smile on his face says the first day of his first hunt was a success even if wasn’t killing a deer. The picture during the day is the first three. Then the limit at night
