Our family took our annual trip to Fish Lake in July. On our first day there my wife Maia and I decided to do a little shore fishing before heading out on the boat. With one of the last casts of the afternoon I hooked into a 23 inch lake trout on powerbait no less. Later that evening out on the boat, Maia hooked into a fish that she could barely reel in. When we got it to the boat it turned out to be a huge 23 inch Kokanee salmon, the first Kokanee she has ever caught. It was also my daughter Ivy’s first time on my dad’s boat, and after a rough start with slow fishing and a few things being thrown overboard, she got the hang of it and loved watching everyone catch and unhook fish. Ivy even touched a few of the fish before helping to put them back in the water. It was a fun trip full of firsts for everyone.
My son Levi and I had the great opportunity to spend the week with a family friend at their cabin in Talkeetna, Alaska. We were able to fish and site see all week. Randy, the cabin owner says fishing was really slow compared to years past. We thought if this was slow fishing we would have lived to see it in the better years. We caught Chum salmon, pinks, reds, and even rainbow trout. Truly grateful for the opportunity to see the Beauty of Alaska.

Barrett had some tight lines and got into the perch hot and heavy at Rockport reservoir. Once again out fishing his dad.. They caught over 70 perch and filleted some for a fish fry.
