13 year old Mayzie Droscher couldn’t wait for her first deer hunt and got it done with 1 shot at 175 yards with her 243. Proud Dad moment for sure. She now has the bragging rights with her 3 sisters for shooting the biggest first buck of the bunch.
Now that the big game hunts are starting to wind down, & winter is upon us, but still wanting to get out hunting, Taidge and his dad made it out to do some coyote hunting. After calling 6 dogs in, several close calls with dogs approaching from the worst possible places, and a clean miss by his dad, it all came together on this stand. After 20 minutes, this dog came running to the wounded jackrabbit. It was spotted at 600 yards out, charging hard and within a few minutes had closed the distance to just a couple hundred. When this dog stopped to hone in on the squealing rabbit for his final approach, Taidge let him have it with the AR-15. One shot, flop, & that was it. After high fives & pictures we remarked at how nice looking its coat & markings were. That’s one less deer eater out there. Good shooting Taidge!!
2025 LE Late season Book Cliffs Elk tag. This bull was killed on 11/11/25, Veterans Day with military Veterans present. I am a current 26 year, Law Enforcement veteran myself. I named this bull, “The Veteran in Willow Creek, under the Northern Lights”. This picture and the memories made with friends are the real trophies. AJ

I often see you highlighting our youth in getting their first deer or elk or fish etc. and that is very exciting. I remember those days myself. But this is the other end of the spectrum for me now. After 15 years of trying, I finally drew out on an elk tag and the results were specular. The problem is I’m now 77 years old and I don’t have another 15 years to wait for another drawing so this was my last elk hunt. But it paid off. This monstrous elk was taken on the Wasatch unit. We hunted 3 days and couldn’t get closer than 620 yards. But I guess I can still shoot straight at my age as I dropped this magnificent bull with one shot. What a great way to finish my experiences of hunting our great outdoors. Larry Miller
We wanted to soak up the nice fall weather, so I took the kids out fishing. Our 11-year-old, Sadie, hooked into this absolute monster wiper. Her little brother was just as proud—he’s holding up the bait that helped seal the deal.
