We went sturgeon fishing on the snake river in the middle of May. It was our first time sturgeon fishing and we learned a lot from this trip. We spent 3 days fishing and we slept right on the river bank in the rocks. On the 2nd day Landon was sitting there and he looked over and his rod was getting pulled like crazy. He ran over to it as fast as he could, and it almost launched in the water, but he caught his rod before it did. Landon pulled up to set the hook but the rock his rod was laying on frayed Landon’s braided line and it snapped on the hookset. In the morning, my Tyson’s friend Gavin woke up and realized that his rod was getting pulled on so Gavin set the hook and he fought the sturgeon for about 30 minutes before finally getting it in. As we were getting it, we realized that the bait had come out of the water but the sturgeon wasn’t on the bait. We realized that it was attached to some other line. Once we caught the sturgeon, we were looking at the line and we all realized that the line was the sturgeon that Landon snapped on the day before. The sturgeon was swimming past Gavin’s bait and the line got caught around his bait, and the line tied a knot in itself. So now Gavin can say that he caught a sturgeon without actually even hooking it which is crazy. The sturgeon was about 7 1/2 feet long and it was the biggest fish I’ve ever seen. Personally Landon is counting the fish as 1/2 of his because if he never snapped on the sturgeon Gavin wouldn’t have caught it. The trip was just an amazing experience and I can’t wait to go again!

I went fishing at oquirrh lake on may 8th and caught a white bass that tied the state record white bass. It was in a very small pond that wasnt even supposed to have them, however I casted into the foam from the little spillway and got slammed the second it went under, it hit so hard that it almost ripped the rod out of my hands! I was looking for largemouth and instead got something much greater. It was a 19in 3.8lbs BEAST

9 year old, Will, and his 11 year old brother, Henry, floated the “A” section of the Flaming Gorge Green River recently and landed both Rainbows and Browns. Grandma was able to find a couple of excellent guides, Jon and Trevor, out of Trout Creek Flies in Dutch John, Utah. The Green was running fast at about 7700 cfs, but the guides, both true fishermen as well as oarsmen, were able to navigate the white water and rapids and locate great spots to fish. It was Will’s and Henry’s first time on the Green and they were thrilled with the day’s events.
Sharon was diagnosed with ALS and was only given several short years to live. When she was given the news, her employer helped her with a disability retirement and we set off working on her bucket list. One item towards the top of her list was a trip to Texas to see the JFK museum, the Alamo and go on an exotic animal hunt. Last Fall, we were able to travel to Texas to see the sights and experience a great hunt, first class food and stay at the Saje Lodge near Del Rio Texas. She really wanted this Chocolate Fallow Deer and it took her 3 days of hunting but she was successful on bagging this beautiful buck. I was able to shoot the first Oryx I had ever seen live and was able to get my first Black Hawaiian Ram. We had a great trip and have many more things to do on her bucket list.

Pineview Tiger Musky
Spirit Lake on Memorial day.
Caught a massive brown trout within the first few minutes of fishing at Porcupine Reservoir. My friend and I proceeded to catch four more fish within the next few hours, but this was the biggest. Super fun way to spend a weekend morning!
