Whitney and Katie’s successful antelope hunt at Deseret Land and Livestock. Randy says the girls made two proud dads that day, the weather was terrible, the roads were a mess, but the girls hunted hard and were the first to check in their animals. Many grown men hunting at the same time, didn’t even fill their tags that day. Randy says it was “classic.”
While mom was out of town, Clarence loaded up the boys and headed to the Uinta’s for a little fishing. Pictured is 11 year old Michael holding his first ever tiger trout from Mirror Lake. Just goes to show how much fun you can have with only a few hours in the great Utah Outdoors.
Aspen is in nursing school and was only able to hunt nights on her five day CWMU elk hunt on the Fish Lake. After passing 15 bulls on the second night, she connected on this great six by six on the second. Aspen says she owes this bull to her father Kreig for all of his scouting and hard work. She says the spike hunt will never be the same after getting the chance at chasing big bulls.
Check out this huge tiger musky Kim caught at Pineview just two weeks ago on lure made by a friend who is also a diehard tiger musky angler. Kim says she employed her 3p’s, (passion, persistence and patience) that day to hook into the beast. The musky was literally dragging their 18 foot boat around the lake. The fish is her personal best and stretches the tape to 49.5 inches with a girth of 22.
Back in August Cody was down near Fish Lake when he found a bachelor herd of elk with about 25 bulls in a meadow. A couple of the younger bulls were deciding the pecking order in the herd and had a short boxing match. I’ve seen bulls do this, not sure exactly why, but I assume they are trying to protect their antlers for the fall rut.
The winner this week is a high country scene you don’t see very often. Jared was in elk camp in the Uinta’s with the family when he decided he wanted to go fishing. Wanting to fish the deep water and having no way to get there, he decided to use his horse. His mom Diana says this describes her sons’ personality to a tee, he always makes due with what he has. Jared ended up catching two fish off the horse and now Diana you catch our big prize for having the Camp Chef snapshot of the week.
