Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 10/15/2011

We kick it off with three cousins and three tags for the Books. Dave and his cousins Kolter and Sara, all took great bucks this year on the archery hunt. But it was Sara’s heavy 25 inch wide buck that stole the show. Dave says that if it was going to be any girl to show them up, it’d be Sara. A great hunt, they can’t wait to draw again.

Check out this huge bull Jeff took in Southern Utah this year. His buddy Brent sent us the picture and says Jeff waited 18 long years for this tag. Jeff was getting discouraged, passed on some smaller bulls, talked about throwing in the towel, but in the end stuck it out and bagged a giant.

Ten year old Paris and six year old Cambry both caught two great bows while fishing with their dad on the Green River. Steve says both fish were the result of the first two casts of the trip. He says, the best part was both fish were landed with a three foot “hello Kitty” fishing rod. They were released to fight another day.

After missing two smaller bucks on his muzzle-loader hunt this year on the Manti, Eric listened to his dad and kept his cheek on the gun and finally connected with this fine buck at 140 yards. Nothing better than watching your son have some success on the hunt.

Josh’s brother Cody had some success on this years muzzle-loader hunt as well. While hunting the pinion junipers down south, he spotted this buck and according to Josh made a great shot as the deer was weaving through the trees. Cody wasn’t sure how big the buck was, that is until he walked up to it. The buck ended up scoring right at 196 and should easily make the long hunters societies big game records book.

And finally our winner tonight is a chance encounter with a friendly feline. Richard’s son was up on the opening weekend of the bow-hunt when this bobcat propped up on this log to check him out. He says the cat was within seven feet of him for about 20 minutes. At one point, the cat went to the end of the log, laid down and fell asleep. The whole encounter was caught on Richard’s son’s I-phone! No word if he tagged out this year, but he did walk away with some great pics.
