Tonights snapshots are all about the hunt. With only two points, Mike drew an elk tag on the famed Monroe unit and bagged this great 6 by 7 bull. Mike scouted hard for this hunt, made a 400 yard shot and had good friends and family to help him pull the bull out. If you look real close you can actually see tears of joy on Mike’s face after the successful hunt.
A fourteen year quest finally became a reality for Curtis this year as he tagged out with this beautiful billy on the Box Elder Peak Unit. Curtis says the terrain and the country was breath taking and a challenge in everyway. In some cases even dangerous. A truly challenging and taxing hunt, very rewarding, an experience he’ll never forget.
Don and his son Jed have had a great start to this years hunts. Jed started it off with his biggest archery deer to date he arrowed in Northern Utah. Then the old man chimed in with this heavy, long tined San Juan Elk Ridge bull that scores an impressive 368.
Seventeen year old Marae Mair has done something many older hunters have yet to do, bag a giant bull and she did it with a muzzleloader. Marae and her dad Scott had only been in their blind for a few minutes when this huge bull came down to the wallow, a quick 22 yard shot and her hunt was done.
Brandon had another close encounter with this 340 class Mount Dutton bull, he had it at 40 yards! He leveled his rifle, and put a warning shot right over it’s back. He then backed it up with three well placed shots and the celebration began. Brandon had many friends help him on his hunt, He says if this snapshot doesn’t win this time, he’s crawling into a hole. We’ll bud, better grab a shovel!
Because our winner tonight is a dad and son tag team on a couple of good bulls. Randy and his dad Todd both drew their golden tickets the same year. Todd drew a Wasatch moose tag and Randy the wasatch muzzy tag for elk. The ol man tagged out first with this once in a lifetime moose and six days later Randy followed up with his elk. Randy found his bull, while helping his dad on his hunt, he says it was destiny because he would have never found the bull if he wasn’t spending priceless time with his old man. Well Randy, destiny is smiling again, as you two lay claim to our big prize for having the snapshot of the week.
