Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 09/29/2012

[CG :2 LineBrandon AshbyStick and String bull]

We kick it off with some great animals taken off of this years hunts. Check out Brandon’s huge bull he took this year while hunting the Book Cliffs. Brandon shot this bull with his Mathews bow at 65 yards. His bull ended up scoring 373, well over the Pope and Young minimum.

[CG :2 LineErik DalleyHunt of a lifetime]

After wanting to hunt Rocky Mountain Goats for over thirty years Erick finally drew a tag and it just so happened that his hunt started on his 41st birthday. Here he is with a beautiful billy he harvested just as the sun was coming up. His wife Kristin and good friend Nolan were there to share in the moment . Erik says, he couldn’t have asked for a better birthday than to be in the outdoors with family and friends and making a memory of a lifetime.

[CG :2 LineKyler CloseA trip fit for a king]

Looks like Kyler and his family had a great week at Pybus Point Lodge in Southeastern Alaska as did we. Kyler says they caught kings, silvers, you name it, but one of the highlights of the trip was pulling up a king crab pot with one of the locals at the lodge. He says the sheer size of these creatures when they come out of the water was something you don’t see at your neighborhood lake. A trip he’ll never forget.

[CG :2 LineTyler HoltHard pack, well worth it.]

Here’s another stud bull Tyler took on his archery limited entry elk hunt. Tyler says the hunt was extremely exciting. However he didn’t realize how big these animals are and it turned into a long night of packing out meat and the head, but Tyler says it was well worth it.

[CG :2 LineElton SchmidtWINNER!]

But our winner tonight is a family who has that pack job figured out. This is Elton Schmidt’s first bull elk taken on his limited entry archery hunt. Elton says his successful hunt was made possible by some fancy calling skills and being in the right place at the right time. To get his bull out, he called upon a few friends who had some horses and well some goats. His eight year old son Dillon was on hand to help herd the goats. No doubt a great bull, but an even better memory for Elton and Dillon. One we hope to help you remember, as you guys now haul away our big prize from Camp Chef, for having our snapshot of the week.
