Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 5/4/2013

[CG :2 LineMatt KingNEW STATE RECORD!]

We kick it off with a new state record catch and release channel catfish. Matt and his buddy John Konzelman were having a blast catching some nice kitties at Cutler when while helping Matt net a fish, Johns rod started singing. This huge catfish, got off two good runs, and as Matt went to boat the beast, it broke the net. John’s big kitty beat the old record by two inches and measured 36. Matt says they quickly took the measurements, a few pictures and released the beast to fight another day.

This is Jeremy’s little brother Buddy. Buddy passed away recently, he loved waterfowl hunting and it took him three years to draw out on this beautiful swan he bagged last Oct. Jeremy says, his little brother will be missed, but always loved and known for his love of the outdoors.

[CG :2 LineRandy AikenFish on, and on, and on….]

Every spring for the past eight years Randy and his family participate in what they call “The Dam Fishing Trip.” That’s when they head to Powell to fish for stripped bass. This year Randy says it was the best he’s ever seen. In three days they boated three hundred and sixty seven fish. They were each fishing with two poles and there were times when literally every rod had a fish on. Randy says they got tired of catching fish at times and had to stop and rest.

[CG :2 LineJon Hatchbrowns and cutts]

Fishing the “A Section” of the Green River with his dad and guide Charlie Card, Jonny caught five nice browns all by himself using a small sliver rapala. But the highlight of the trip was a stop at Strawberry on their way home where Jonny caught this monster 24 inch cutthroat, that is almost as big as he is.

[CG :2 LineKory BundyWINNER!]

But our winner tonight wasn’t about to let dad go without him. Kory’s 4 year old son Kyler put his foot down and told dad, he wasn’t going out hunting unless he got to go. So they loaded up the truck and headed out to try their luck at calling in Coyote. After 5 min of calling Kyler whispered “I see one”. Sure enough a coyote was coming in hot. At 80 yards out, dad put him down with one shot. The picture made for a great father son moment, they’ll not soon forget as they not only did they have a great day, but they’ve also won our snapshot of the week.

Remember submit your pictures and a brief explanation of your latest outdoor adventures online at KSLTV.com. The winner each week wins a Camp Chef two burner Explorer stove. Portability and Power from our friends at Camp Chef.
