Fishing Report: Dec. 20, 2014

It’s winter time on the rivers, and most people are only thinking midges this time of year. But there are some very good flies that will work, as well. Mickey Anderson from FishTech Outfitters takes us through a few.

In the winter, everyone only thinks you can use little flies. But that’s not right. I’ll use a small fly on the middle, a sal bug or a midge, but then I’ll sandwich it betwen one large fly like a San Juan worm or a glowbug.

Here’s what my winter flybox looks like. You need the small patterns. There will be days for the tiny stuff, but make sure you have plenty of large flies. They will work all winter long.
