” Magic on the Mud Flats ” As I went out for my swan my original plan was to sit in some Phragmite patches and hopefully get a swan on a fly by. As I got closer the phragmities probably had around 8 guy around it. Soo I decided to walk about 500 yards away from that patch to get away from the crowd. And sit on a mud flat hoping I’d be lucky enough to get a swan to fly over. The decision paid of as 2 tundra swans flew directly over me in the middle of the mud flat. I would’ve like to know what the dude in the phragmites were thinking as I was sitting out in the open. Had a little magic happen on the mud flats.

My name is Kanyon Williams I am 17 & hunting and fishing at my life. I love filling my tags and putting meat on our freezer. I also love to help friends and others. This was my 2nd elk tag but my very first elk. I hiked , spotted and made the400 yard shot all on my own. Then my grandpa , dad and cousin came and helped pack him out.
My grandson Mason Allred caught his biggest fish to date at Strawberry. This is his first cutthroat. The significance of this first is that Mason has been fighting cancer for the past two years. For a time we didn’t k ow if he would have these days. These outings keep him going. He is about to finish his treatments and is looking forward to many more years with his family fishing and hunting.

We found a group of 3 nice Fallow bucks, one white, one carmel but she fell in love with a chocolate one. It took us 4 days of hunting to get the right shot but she got it done. She got her beautiful “chocolate marsh fallow”,. Oh, and I was able to get the first live Oryx I’ve ever seen.
