It was a great year for the girls. Both taking their personal best mule deer. First Hailey, her dad Scott, Hailey and her mom Natalie found this heavy 4 point opening morning. Hailey made a great shot at 382 yards. She was so happy. Then the pain is shown on the pack out. Was a great morning. Then it was Natalie’s turn. After traveling to new unit and passing some really good deer this big wide 3×3 got Natalie excited and she decided he was the one. One shot at 200yrds with her .243 and she had her personal best. Nice job girls.

Easton Doxey had a great week starting by tagging his first buck his fist year hunting deer. He ended it by making a great shot on this beautiful mature swan. He had some opportunities earlier that morning but had some issues with getting the safety off. He also choose to hold off on shooting a juvenile swan in the decoys because he wanted a mature bird. This one decoyed in just how we wanted.

My daughter Morgan has been hunting alongside me since she was 12 years old (now 27). Her love for all aspects of the outdoors is a trait I’m proud to have passed on to her. Now, happily married with two children, that same passion still burns bright. Leaving her kids at home with their dad, an opportunity for a father-daughter general season deer hunt turned into a day that will forever be etched in my memory. After tuff hunting for an entire weekend and seeing very few animals, Morgan harvested this magnificent, mature three-point buck. I didn’t think the day could get any better. But six hours later, a dream of my own came true when this heavy-horned, mature four-point stepped into view. A thirty-six-year pursuit of a true trophy buck finally became a reality. Magic happened on the mountain that day, something only those who have experienced it can truly understand. I was blessed to share it with my daughter. I am grateful to have been born and raised in this beautiful state along with the unlimited outdoor adventures it has to offer.

I finally became a member of the “Big Buck” club last week after this past hunting season. Last spring, I was lucky enough to draw a limited entry buck deer tag for the West Willow Creek CWMU tag after 15 years of putting in for limited entry deer. My husband and children are experienced hunters, and have been on numerous hunts before, but this year is the first time I was able to hunt for a true trophy buck of my own. On the first day of the hunt, we were able to locate and harvest this awesome buck at 300 yards. The big buck measured 27 inches wide, and he gross scored 176 points. My husband, two of my sons, and my grandson was with me to watch me harvest this big buck, and it truly was an experience of a lifetime.
