We didn’t even know that the aurora borealis was happening until our aunt texted my dad during dinner. We drove all the way through to pass and down into the valley to see them, and they were beautiful. It was the first time me, my two little brothers, and my parents have ever seen them, and we finally had our dreams come true.

With completing his hunter education two weeks before the hunt Russ was able to participate in the Hunter Mentoring Program to harvest his first buck on the rifle season opener. It was all smiles for this young man as many great memories were made enjoying the outdoors with family and friends!
Never seen such pretty northern lights as tonight near Pineview Reservoir. Especially the pink color. Wow

I took this photo coming home tonight from the cow elk hunt on deseret! It’s the northern lights looking over lost creek reservoir!
View of the Aurora from late-season elk camp in the Book Cliffs on my daughter-in-laws hunt. Quality time spent with family and a light show bonus!
This is my son Colton’s GSP Sonny. He has done all the training and wow what a fun dog to hunt behind. From Chukars to Pheasants she does it all. Colton went out for an evening hunt last week and Sonny found and locked up on this nice rooster. Colton flushed the bird and made the shot and was rewarded with a nice retrieve. This pair is an upland birds worst nightmare. Colton was able to get this great shot of Sonny and the rooster with an awesome sunset in the back.

Well after 18+ years of putting in for the hard to draw areas, San Juan, Monroe, Pahvant and Beaver units hopping to draw a tag for a chance at a monster bull, decided to lower my standard and have a better chance to draw a tag because I’m not getting any younger, my nephew and put in for the late Wasatch unit and we finally got lucky drawing tags. After hearing we drew tags I was disappointed to be honest, think we made a bad decision. Then the stress began, crap November hunt, it’s freezing up there in November and there could be feet of snow up there, We do not know the area that well either. So we did 4-1/2 days of scouting and seen only one cow with a spike. We were discouraged to all get out, then the night before the opener we seen a nice 5 point with a few small bulls and some cows. Is this our area we said? Guess what, it turned out to be our spot. Opening day Robbie seen the 5 point again and was able to get a few shots off at it missing it thankfully because as we were leaving the area at almost dusk we seen two nice bigger bulls, one nice 6×5 that Robbie dropped, of course the other bull got away without a shot at it because …….. well let’s say I had technical difficulties with my gun and ammo. So the next morning we go back to our spot and we seen sooo many elk it was nuts. Turned out the other big bull was in the heard and I was able to finally drop it after …… well a few shots we will say. I was hopping for 340+ bull because this will likely be my last time to draw a tag but I settled for a respectable 6 point. What a great hunt and time spent with Trevor who tagged along with his dad because he knew it was my last big elk hunt I love you and thanks for your help. Robbie and his boy Carson are awesome spotters and the best people to hunt and camp with. Thanks for all your help!!! And special thanks to our awesome hunting from kSL. XOXOXO
