In the last days of summer and before the start of school, we wanted to hammer out one last outdoor event. Sand Hollow was the perfect location for such a family outing. It took a while, but young Cole was able to crack the code and outdo anyone else there that day fishing. You can see Grandpa in the background still trying to figure out what color lure to tie on, all while Cole was slamming the hungry bucket mouth bass. Way to go Cole on this last outing!

My grandson, Hayden Merrill, and I were visiting Saint George last weekend, and wanted to go fishing, so we headed to Ivin Reservoir for the first time. Hayden saw some bluegill in the rocks near shore, and rigged up a hand line with a small hook, with a ball of bread on it, and was having a great time trying to catch the bluegill, when this formidable largemouth emerged from the deeper water, and took his bread ball! He successfully pulled it to the shore using his hand line, he was both thrilled and surprised as he proudly showed his first ever largemouth bass to those nearby, prior to releasing it back into the water.

Last week, we decided to take our 8 month old daughter, Remi, out to Starvation Reservoir for her first fishing trip. We were out jigging for walleye near Indian Bay when this nice Cutthroat hit my jig and night crawler. I reeled the big fish in, with my daughter sitting on my lap. And when we landed the big fish, she could not keep her hands off the fish, and she was smiling from ear to ear. The fish measured 21 inches long, and tasted great off the smoker. Not too shabby for her first fishing trip!

This Labor Day weekend my family and I finally got back to Flaming Gorge after many years. I was lucky enough to catch two lake trout ; one pup and one 42 inch, 27 pound monster! I look forward to the opportunity to try for an even bigger fish, but the experience of catching this giant was awesome. Thanks to my family and son-in-law Chris for his help landing this big fish.
