When 89 year old Carolyn Felix of Springville received an antelope tag this year, the feeling was bitter sweet. She had hoped that she would have been able to go hunting with her husband, Leo Felix, with whom she had been married for 65 years but sadly, he passed away a year and a half ago. She didn’t think she wanted to hunt without him but with the support and encouragement of her family, she continued to apply for a tag and was fortunately given one in 2025. After practicing for the last month, the day came for the hunt. After being patient, an antelope came into range and with one shot, was able to bring the animal down. Even though her husband wasn’t next to her to witness the event she was supported by her children and many of her grandchildren making it a memorable family experience. As the future comes, she will continue applying for more tags and looks forward to the next hunt in the future! (Incidentally, Leo Felix was on Snapshot of the Week dated November 13th, 2021).

Beautiful evening in the Uintah Mountains
Ellie went grouse hunting with her grandfather and bagged this gem. She was so excited that she kept one of the wing spans and is in the process of hanging it on her wall. Not only to remember the prize but the amazing memories she is making with her grandpa (poppy). She’s looking forward to her deer hunt next month and cant wait to get back outdoors.
11 year old Jackson wanted to make sure he wrapped up hunter safety the last week in April so he could chase Tom’s in May. Being his and his Dads first time turkey hunting the expectations weren’t much more than looking forward to enjoying some time in the mountains together and hoping to hear a gobble or two. Boy were they wrong! Not 20 mins into the hunt they had turkeys calling back and coming up to decoy. After getting schooled by a tom the first night they set up a plan for the next morning. Things worked out just right and Jackson put the hammer down on a beautiful Tom. A new addiction has definitely developed.

This was my daughter Remie first Sandhill crane hunt. As you can see it was a complete success. Remie loves to hunt and fish and has been by my side on many adventures. We always are looking forward to the next one.

We were up enjoying the weather at the Payson Lakes and were fortunate enough to catch a Bald Eagle snatching a fish!
