When my daughter Paige completed her hunter safety at 12 years old she didn’t draw a deer tag and she was bummed. Our friends in Snowville gave her a landowner tag for a doe pronghorn. She was successful and super happy. This year when she drew her deer tag she said, Dad, I just want to shoot something with antlers. Sunday morning with some fresh snow on the ground I spotted a group with some antlers (I only saw a 2 point). I scurried to help her get her rifle ready. When she was set they were at 175 yards. I wondered why she was stalling as the herd moved over the ridge. I said, it’s ok Paige, let’s go find…BOOOM! She shot this awesome 4×3 that I never saw. Her reaction was one of pure joy! Tears of happiness! As a father/hunter these 2 hunts have been the highlight of my hunting career and they have managed to lock a young girl in to a lifetime of conservation and love of the outdoors. We swapped the boat for a side x side at lake Powell last month but, we weren’t dissatisfied when we found this desert bighorn in the rocks a few miles from the lake.

Big Horn sheep in eastern Utah Braden Westover captured a great shot of this beautiful ram while hunting in eastern Utah last weekend.
Opening morning of the general and LE elk hunt. We made a mistake on a small herd of elk that had a decent bull running with some cows. Conner continued to put in the time hiking all day and night with hopes to connect with a bull for the first time of his life. Conner thought this was not going to happen for him this year. But Finley on the last day he was able to hunt this year, this bull came walking in to a little meadow at about 125 yard giving Conner the last chance of the year to take his first elk of his life. Making a perfect shot he made this happen. So at 16 years old he was feeling very proud, lucky and was happy his grandfather and his dad was there to take in this special moment.
