My son Ethan shot his first mule deer buck in the fall of 2024 (shortly after dad got his muzzy Paunsaugunt buck) After the deer hunt he said dad, now I want to chase elk. So fall of 2025, we chased Elk in one of Utahs open bull units and on day 4, the 16 year old Ethan shot his first bull. Smiles all around but the packout soon changed those smiles into….well…..not smiles. Its was great to see my boy hunt hard and not give up. He was also with me for 10 days hunting my Paunsaugunt buck. Makes a dad smile! (Pictures included are Ethans elk at 16 years old, his first buck at 15 years old and of course, dad’s paunsaugunt muzzy buck)

I take my boy Johnny (11 yrs) duck hunting out at Ogden Bay a couple times each week. He brings his kayak along just in case one of our ducks lands in the water too far from the dike and it’s too deep to wade. Wednesday (1/7) morning was especially picturesque. I snagged this photo of him headed out to field two ducks in the water as the sun was rising. What a state we live in!!!
Ten-year-old Easton filled his very first big-game tag on an Arizona javelina after several days of hard work on the youth hunt! He spotted it across a small canyon, made a perfect one-shot harvest with his .243, and the rest was history. One proud moment for one very happy young hunter!
My buddy and I were fishing Mantua in November in my new boat. Don hooked a nice 3 lb 11 oz large mouth bass. Biggest in the new in my new boat. I’ll get him this year.
Proudly, outshined by my daughter in a hunt of a lifetime! Even a couple of my grand babies found their own trophies to get pictures with! Utah is incredible!

Colter Card waited 20 years to draw a Henry Mountain bison tag. This was a late season cow tag so the animals have been pressured for a while. Colter and his Dad, Dave, glassed up a very large, lone, cow the night before the hunt opened. With the stormy weather, the sky’s and vistas were unbelievably beautiful. When the clouds finally made glassing possible in the afternoon of the first day, they were able to locate the cow again and put in a long stalk down the canyon and seal the deal. At times like this, you are grateful for a lot of good friends to help with the pack out. The Henry’s are amazingly wild with some truly beautiful country and animals. Thanks to all those who helped!
