Jax caught this beautiful fish on Schofield today with dad. While getting the boat ready Jax snapped this video (pic of part of the video ) of a beautiful bear eating a sheep. Jax was smart enough to grab dad’s binoculars and use the phone for a double zoomed in video. What a day!
Excited girl on beautiful July evening in Collinston Utah.
After seeing last weeks show, I thought I would share the picture and story of the first big horn sheep hunt in 1967 in southern Utah. (Excerpted from a Logan newspaper clipping, 1967.) The first Desert Big Horn ram to be killed in Utah was brought home to Cache Valley. The hunting party includes Carl Felix of Logan, who got the prize kill; George Crookston, also of Logan; Theo Smith, Preston; and Joe Felix, Cedar City. The hunting was done in the rugged San Juan Mountain Range. The men spent four days hunting in country adjacent to the Colorado River. The men were able to travel part of the country in a Jeep, but because of the rugged terrain, most of the hunt was on foot. Mr. Felix bagged his Desert Big Horn with his deer hunting rifle, a 257 Roberts. The eight-year-old 200 pound animal was field dressed and it took the entire party to carry it back to camp. The Desert Big Horn is considered to be one of the most sought after and hard to obtain of the four kinds of wild sheep in the northern hemisphere. Pictured: (From left to right) George Crookston, Carl Felix, Theo Smith, and Joe Felix. Carl Felix is pictured alone with the Big Horn Sheep
