Snapshot of the Week: Oct. 11, 2014

We kick it off with Hunter and Donnivan’s outing on this years youth waterfowl hunt. Larry says, a lot of geese were in the air that morning. With the dads and uncles working the calls, they called in several flocks and each boy took a pair of geese and had a great time.

This is one very excited 8 year old! Noah is an avid little fisherman. This year he convinced his dad that he was big enough to chase a toothy tiger musky, so they loaded up the boat and headed off to Pineview where Noah proceeded to hook into this fat 33 inch musky. The fish went aerial, took Noah for a ride, but in the end Noah boated his first ever tiger, something father and son will never forget.

Ardie and her husband went caribou hunting in Quebec in early September. Ardie says lady luck was on her side as she got a bigger bull than her husband. On the last night of their hunt, they had the antlers drying on a rack when Ardie noticed the northern light illuminating the night sky and capped off their trip of a lifetime with this great shot.

Jason and his buddy Parker got some great video of Jason battling an elusive bull trout on their fishing trip to Canada. Once hooked the big fish took off and took Jason and Parker for a ride 200 yards downstream. Jason says it was the most insane fight he’s ever had, but by far the most exciting and exhilarating catch of his life. He hopes, but doubts he can do it again someday.

But our winner tonight got some great shots of a local celebrity, named, “billy the kit.” Stephen was conducting field research at a remote station on the North Slope of Alaska and would often run into this kit fox. “billy the kit” as he became known could often be seen hanging around the boat dock, or hopping around the tundra in search of voles. In an area where there are less than 30 people in a one hundred mile radius, Billy provided some fun entertainment for the researchers. Those are some great shots Stephen and the next time to head up to Alaska for work, you’ll have a great stove from Camp Chef to take with you as you just won…our snapshot of the week.

Remember submit your pictures and a brief explanation of your latest outdoor adventures online at KSLTV.com. The winner each week wins the lightweight and portable Camp Chef Weekender-two burner stove. Plenty of power, great for camping from our friends over at Camp Chef.
