Snapshot of the Week: Oct. 24, 2015

We’re back at the berry for tonights first entry. Casey was up with his dad and caught this twenty three inch slot buster cutthroat. Casey says when it was time to pack up he began cleaning his catch, that’s when he found a 2015 white strawberry fishing contest tag inside the fish! Casey’s fish had eaten one of our tagged rainbows! Casey took the tag to the Strawberry Marina, claimed his prize and now we’ll see Casey at our closing ceremony on November 14th to see if his tag gets drawn for the 22 foot Crest pontoon boat. Good luck Casey!

A spur of the moment fishing trip turned into an unforgettable morning for the Jackson family. 13 year old Abbie Jackson didn’t know fish got this big until she reeled in this six pound, hooked jaw rainbow. Dad says all she could do was giggle. Grandma Jackson was up next and landed this five pound bow. John says she screamed in excitement for the entire lake to hear. In all the family caught three giant rainbows, with ten year old Ellie catching the most. John says he and his dad didn’t fish much, all they did was bait hooks, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Check out this nice buck Joe connected on. Joe says he hadn’t seen a deer for three days and it was hard to load up for a three hour hike on day seven but quitting was not an option. Joe say’s keeping hunting and never give up. You never know when the big one is going to step out.

Derrin and his wife Cheryl recenty took their first Alaskan fishing trip. They fished rivers, the ocean and Cheryl was able to complete the salmon slam by catching all five species of Pacific salmon! King, silver, Chum, Pink and Sockeye! The couple say they’re not sure why it took them so long to get to Alaska, but it won’t be long before they go back!

but our winner tonight had an epic day in the high country of Utah. Justin Hamblin says fall is his favorite time of year to fish. These are some giant grayling he caught on an undisclosed lake somewhere in Utah. Justin says the grayling were just as colorful as the turning fall leaves. These fish, at least this size are not easy to find, and not only did you find them, you took some great shots and have now won our big prize for the next time you head outdoors as you just won our snapshot of the week.
