Snapshot of the Week: Sept. 6, 2014

We kick it off with a high Uinta adventure for Ryan and his son Parker. Parker has never been a big fan of fishing because he’s never had a ton of success. This trip changed that! At ten thousand foot Cliff lake, the boys had a blast catching big fish and cooking them over the fire. The eleven mile hike to the lake they say was worth every step, they were even able to summit Kings Peak.

Cousins Austin and Bryson filled their tags this year within minutes of each other and with just minutes of light left on the opening day of this years archery hunt. Bryson bagged the big three by three, Austin the smaller of the two. The boys say, they’ll remember this hunt forever. Live to hunt, hunt to live is their philosophy.

Brittanie finally did it, she hiked to the top of Mount Timpanogos. On their way down, they were lucky enough to spot several mountain goats and couldn’t resist the opportunity to take a snapshot. The views she says were breathtaking, but seeing the goats no more than 6 feet away made the trip.

Duke was with the scouts a couple weeks ago in Bechler Canyon, Yellowstone. His favorite part of the adventure was running into a few pika. Duke has read about pike since he was a kid, but this was the first time actually seeing one. They group enjoy the adults and even this baby all the while feasting on huckleberries and rasberries, a real treat!

But our winner tonight had an incredible week in Alberta chasing down some very feisty bull trout. This is Weston holding a beautiful Bull Trout. He says, he had a forty inch, twenty pound bully snap his eight weight rod, near the base. Weston says that fish broke his rod, his line, and then his heart, but he will be back for that monster next year. Well Weston when you head back to the land of the north to chase that monster, you’ll have our big prize to pack with you as you just won…our snapshot of the week.

Remember submit your pictures and a brief explanation of your latest outdoor adventures online at KSLTV.com. The winner each week wins the lightweight and portable Camp Chef Weekender-two burner stove. Plenty of power, great for camping from our friends over at Camp Chef.
