Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 1/15/2012

We kick it off with Natalie and her parents last fishing trip of the year up at the berry. Natalie says it was stressful morning trying to get to the lake in time, but boy was it worth it. Dear old dad hooked this nice cutt and then let Nat reel it in. She says it was a great day on the lake with her parents.

Sheldon and Ashton had some success at the berry as well, but found it through the ice during the Christmas break. Fishing was slow but steady when Sheldon hooked into this great Strawberry Cut. The fight was on for sometime and it took everyone to get this beauty through the hole. Both boys will never forget this day fishing on the Strawberry ice.

Otter Creek in Central Utah is a favorite ice fishing destination for Travis, this time he let his little brother Brison tag along. They had great weather and even better fishing as Brison hooked into the two biggest fish of the day. The look on his face and the fish made a great day for the brothers.

On the last day of last years rifle deer hunt, Ruger and his dad were watching a hillside when they spotted this mountain lion. The first lion Ruger has ever seen. They then went on a hike, jumped this buck and with one shot, Ruger claimed this heavy, 2 by 3. Ruger says it’s the best deer hunt he’s ever been on.

Devin has had a lot of great hunts in his life, but this year has given him two he’ll never forget. The first was the first duck outing for his son Parker. They didn’t bag a bird that day, but still had a great day in the marsh.
Devin and Parker have also been chasing pheasants and not having much luck. When the shot rang out and this bird fell, young Devin could be heard cheering “that they got it”. Devin says without his hunting buddy by his side, it would have been just another pheasant, but instead it became his all time favorite hunt.

But our winner tonight is a boy with a love of the hunt. Good thing, because the boys name, well it’s Hunter of course. Darren says his son sat all day with him in the blind, didn’t complain once and every time they downed a bird, young hunter was there to snatch it up. They ended the day with four geese, 10 greenheads and now our big prize from Camp Chef for having the snapshot of the week.
