Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 11/05/2011

With the rifle deer hunt over, pictures are pouring in. On the first day of
the general season, 14 year old Tyler Parsons was hunting in the Central
region and downed a buck of a lifetime. This is just his third year hunting
and it’s Tyler’s first ever deer. The buck is 27 and 3/8th wide and scores
just over 190 B & C points, truly a magnificent muley.

Here’s another first for you. 15 year old hunter downed this buck on the
second to last day of the hunt. Dave says Hunter made a great 200 yard
shot and bagged his very first ever buck, this fine typical four. Dad
couldn’t be more proud.

In early October Josh took his black lab puppy Shiva out for a test run while
hunting grouse. Josh says they found a few inches of snow on top of the
mountain and a few grouse as well. Shiva may only be 6 months old, but it
looks like Josh has a hunting partner for many seasons to come.

In celebration of their boys 10th birthdays, Dave and Paul took the day off
and took the boys to the berry. Dave says, the fall bite is on, the boys
caught fish all day. The highlight came on the last fish of the day, when
they landed one of those legendary Strawberry cutts. Dave says no tape
was needed as this cutt was well above the slot.

Paul and his longtime hunting partner were out on the extended hunt
looking to bag a bull elk. In the afternoon, after the storm lifted the
animals started to move. That’s when they found this big bull moose
cruisin through the snow. The contrast of this black moose against the
newly fallen snow, Paul says was pretty special.

Our winner tonight is little boy, with a big heart for the hunt. Four year old
Nate Petty hiked up the rugged face of a mountain to accompany his dad
Tim on his Buck, Bull combo big game hunt. Nate’s energy and excitement
on the early morning hike, proved to take it’s toll later in the day as Nate
ended up taking a snooze on the side of the hill. Dad, never got his buck
or bull, but the family does walk away with our big prize for having the
snapshot of the week.
