Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 2/9/2013

[CG :2 LineWyatt Bertoldi33 inch hog!]

We kick it off with a trip Wyatt and his dad had to the gorge to fish for big lake trout. The boys didn’t land any monster macks, but ol’ Wyatt couldn’t wait to try his luck at fishing for ling at night. Wyatt’s first burbot ever was this thirty three inch hog that beat dads by four inches. A night father and son will never forget.

Rick was walking out to get his mail when he spotted a giant bird with a five foot wing span having a snack. Turns out a Golden Eagle had taken down a green head right in front of Rick’s home. Rick got into his truck and parked across the street so he would spook the raptor and snapped some great pictures.

[CG :2 LineSean JohnsonTHANK YOU!]

Sean has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is confined to a wheelchair, but wasn’t about to let that from keeping him from experiencing his first elk hunt. With the help of many sportsmen and Randy Marriott who owns White Peaks Ranches, Sean was able to down this 600 pound bull elk with one shot with a 300 ultra mag. Sean says Randy and his crew were awesome and made his wish come true.

Back in May, Jim was giving an off road tour for his company Dual Sport Utah just off the Green River and noticed this hawk in a tree. Jim says, he takes his Camera with him for just this type of opportunity. The hawk decided to fly down closer and allowed Jim to get within five feet where he snapped this close up shot of this fly perched on the hawks beak. Jim says living in Moab allows him to get some memorable photos.

[CG :2 LineLance RobertsWINNER!]

But our winner tonight comes from a once in a lifetime hunt down on the Tushars. Lance finally drew a coveted mountain goat tag on the Beaver Mountains. Lance, his dad, brother and his son shared the experience together. Lance was able to get a nice goat a few days into the hunt and says it’s something they will never forget. In fact, his son still talks about the hunt almost every day. It’s fun experiences like this that will keep our kids excited about being outdoors and keep our hunting traditions long into the future. Congrats on the hunt Lance, the memories and now our big prize for having our snapshot of the week.
