Doug Miller’s memory honored at Farmington Bay

FARMINGTON — A big chunk of the wetlands habitat at Farmington Bay now
stands as a living memorial to a Utah outdoorsman and born storyteller.

Ducks Unlimited and the Department of Wildlife Services opened the Doug
Miller Unit Wednesday. The 370 acres of marshland includes new dikes and
other structures that have already helped increase the population of
waterfowl.

It’s exactly the sort of conservation the former KSL outdoorsman championed
throughout his career on television and his life.

“The sounds of the marsh got his blood pumping and made him smile as he
prepared for his beautiful day in the mud,” Karen Coleman, Miller’s daughter,
said in a press conference.

Miller’s wife, Marilyn, said this honor is so appropriate because when he
found Farmington Bay, he quickly made up his mind to move the family to
Farmington.
