Can’t complain about a birthday spend fishing the ice off at the berry. With much thanks to Brent Phillips we were able to catch and release 32 fish. My sons 13th birthday is one he won’t soon forget.

Opening morning of the spring turkey season brought more than just the thrill of the hunt, it delivered a moment that will be cherished for a long time. 17 year old Drake made the most of the opportunity. After his father successfully called in a mature Tom and after hearing the telltale sounds of turkeys fighting just beyond a stand of trees. The victorious bird emerged into view, Drake made a clean, well placed 35 yard shot. What made the experience even more special was the company. Drake’s 10 year old brother, Walker, was by his side, sharing every moment of the excitement. As the bird went down, Walker ran to his brother, wrapped him in a hug, and shouted with pure joy, “LET’S GO!” As a father, it was a proud moment, not just for the successful hunt, but for the example Drake set. His patience, skill, and sportsmanship were on full display, and it’s clear that his younger brother was watching closely. With any luck, Walker will follow in Drake’s footsteps and one day harvest a Tom of his own. Until then, this memory stands as a testament to the power of shared experiences and the lasting bond between brothers.

Willow Bainbridge’s first turkey during youth season in Morgan County. Willow is joined by Dad, Gavin (Pastor and family friend) and Tanner (family friend and professional scout). Willow (age 10) got up at 4am to chase gobblers in the mountains. Willow made a perfect shot and later enjoyed deep fried turkey for dinner.
