8/13/22- While hiking along the Cohab Canyon trail in Capitol Reef National Park with my wife, Jenny, we happened along this desert ram near the overlook point. It was quite some distance away, and we felt lucky to see it. (First photo) Upon completion of both overlook trails, while heading back into the canyon, to our surprise, this ram was now perched on a big rocky outpost overlooking the trail below.

It had been really slow fishing on our annual lake powell trip earlier this summer. After Makaila’s dad, grandpa and uncles had been fishing hard for a few days without much luck, Makaila decided to throw a line out off the back of the houseboat while the guys were all out on fishing boats. Her first cast of the trip caught this 20 inch striper. It didn’t take long for all the fishing boats to come back to ask her for some fishing tips.
First time at scofield reservoir and got my dream fish! Tiger Muskie. 8 pounds and 32 inches
We thought Hunter was the lucky one in our family until this year not drawing any tags, but last year Hunter drew his third limited entry tag and only being 21,Hunter drew a limited entry archery antelope tag,and opening weekend Hunter made a great 60 yard shot on this 14+ inch goat.At least there is always next year.
We asked Jax what his summer goal was. His response, “catch a Tiger Muskie”! Well last Sunday he met that goal. It is 42 inches, and large enough to be kept! He wants it on the wall in the kitchen. He told me “mom I hope this makes the news”! To see his excitement with the catch, his plans on how to tell his fishing story, and the joy of being able to keep and mount this fish has been so fun!
Henry Heder, age 8, caught the biggest fish of the day! He wasnt too keen on heading to the lake at 3:30am but it paid off when he landed this Crimson Monster on Flaming Gorge!
