Snapshot of the Week: Aug. 9, 2014

Chad Yamane is a waterfowl junkie, but with the season still weeks away he had to find something to do, so he loaded up the family and pushed north for a fishing trip on the Snake river. About 11pm that night his new bride Sara hooked into this beautiful sturgeon. After a 20 minute battle the family, got a few pictures, gave it a kiss and sent the big fish on it’s way. Chad says the fish was well worth the trip.

Dylan NelsonRare golden catch
When Dylan learned that golden trout had been stocked into Echo Lake in the Unita’s he knew he had to go. A few weeks his family took a trip to Echo and Dylan was able to land several of these amazing little trout on his fly rod. Something Dylan can now cross off his bucket list.

Kris ChapmanWoo you looking at?
Kris says these two great horned owls have been hanging out in their big tree at Bear Lake for the past few weeks. He thinks they may be the same two owls that lived in the tree with their mother several years ago. That’s great shot Kris.

Jamie MitchellThirsty bull
Here’s some more wildlife from the Bear Lake area. Jamie was up there and found this very thirsty bull moose who wandered into their camp to get a drink from the RainBird sprinkler. The young bull decided that this was a pretty good spot for a drink, so he took a load off, enjoyed the view and the water. Jamie says they enjoyed it as well.

Joseph HawkinsWINNER!
But our winner tonight took this beautiful once in a lifetime shot. Fourteen year old Joseph Hawkins was hiking up the summit of Mount Timpanogos for a youth conference and came upon this nannie and her two kids. Joseph says the goats were only fifteen feet off the trail, and it was cool to see them up close and not be bothered by all the people walking past. No doubt Joseph that is a great shot, worthy of the wall, and our big prize as you just won our…snapshot of the week.
