Snapshot of the Week: Nov. 15, 2014

Even though he doesn’t have a bird dog, Brandon decided to take his kids Conner and Kenzie to a DWR WMA for the youth pheasant opener. Kenzie wasn’t hunting, but spotted both birds and Conner bagged them both. Who needs a bird dog when you have a sister with sharp eyes? Brandon says, he thinks they got a bit of karma after the kids help him pick up a bag full of left behind trash.

Here’s something you don’t see very often. Dylan and his buddy Garrett both shot two drake white wing scoters. It’s unusual to even spot one of these sea ducks in Utah, let alone harvest one, and they got two! Amazing birds, and a day Dylan and Garrett won’t soon forget.

This is more than a fishing picture. This is a group of buddies supporting breast cancer on their latest fishing trip. Brent says the weekend was pretty good, they landed some nice fish, but all the fishing took a backseat to a group of friends in full appreciation of their health and the beautiful outdoors that we all are so lucky to have in our own backyards.

Nate had a great time with his brother and great-nephew, Preston, on Preston’s first pheasant hunt. As you can see from the pictures everyone had a great time including Nate’s English setter, Butch. Nate says, The best thing about this day was that big smile at the end of the day when Preston proudly showed off his first two roosters. With that smile you can tell there will be many more pheasant hunts in his future.

but our winner tonight got an early birthday present and got to test them out on this years hunt. Easton is about to turn 8 years old. He’s been begging dad to go duck hunting and when dad found some waders at Sportsman’s Warehouse that would fit his son, they were set. Dad took Easton to his favorite spot in southwest Wyoming and the boys had a blast. Easton never complained once, and had the time of his life. Easton took the hunt pretty serious, even carried some of the ducks back to the truck. Well Nate, here’s to many more memories spent with your boy and fun times in the outdoors, as you two just hauled in our big prize for having the snapshot of the week.
