With Utah’s general season turkey hunt underway, we thought it onlly appropriate to highlight the wild turkey.
There are six subspecies of wild turkey, all native to North America. Utah is home to two of them. Wild turkeys did not exist in Utah during early white settlement, but historical evidence suggests that turkeys coexisted with native americans in Utah.
Turkeys can gain a 360-degree point of view, and their keen sense of hearing can pinpoints sounds from as far as 500 miles away. But their sense of smell is relatively small.
