Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 08/11/2012

[CG :2 LineMatt BeckAlaska with dad]

In keeping with the theme of the show we kick it off with a daddy daughter date to Alaska. Matt took his daughter Ashton to the Kenai for her twelfth birthday and what a time they had. Ashton caught her share of sockeye, they then headed over to Seward where they caught this dandy yellow eye, some halibut and a ton of rock fish. Matt says, Ashton didn’t get much sleep on their three day adventure, but they did bring home 170 pound of fillets.

Lauren had a grand trip to the Unita’s last month. On their way up to fish, they came across this momma moose with her new baby in tow. After they got to the lake, they caught some beautiful brookies. The high Unita’s is a perfect place to escape the heat and find some wildlife.

Driving in the Pole Creek burn area in Unita Canyon Jerry and Monica spotted a sow black bear run across the road. On the other side of the road, they noticed these two bear cubs calling out to their mother. The cubs finally spotted mom and took off after her. The Kershaws say it was the best friday the 13th they’ve ever had.

but our winner tonight is a sight, you don’t see very often….Chad was working a few weeks back when he went to check on a canal near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon and found a sow and her cubs cooling off in the water. The sow took off and the cubs took to a nearby pole to escape. If you look close enough you can see they both have wet tails from sitting in the water. Chad got few pictures and backed off so the twins could reunite with their mother. A great picture Chad, had our judges laughing, and now you haul away our big prize for having the snapshot of the week.

Remember submit your pictures and a brief explanation of your latest outdoor adventures on-line at KSLTV.com The winner each week will win a great Camp Chef’s prize. Either their new Sherpa Camp Table and Organizer or the 34 hundred BTU Ranger Stove. Portability and Power from our friends at Camp Chef.
