Camp Chef Snapshot of the Week – 10/12/2013

[CG :2 LineRoger GoodwinFirst Buck!]
This weeks snapshots are all… off of the hunt. Check out 12 year old Trace and his first ever buck. After missing a buck earlier in the day, Trace was able to make a great shot with his muzzleloader and bag his first deer. His nine year old sister Kaycee was able to share in his excitement and dad…well, he couldn’t be more proud.

The girls are getting it done as well. 13 year old Avery was out with her dad up near Strawberry on the second day of the muzzleloader hunt. Dad says Avery was a real trooper, they did a lot of walking and when this fine two stepped out, she made a great shot. Avery did get a bruise on her shoulder from the recoil, but wants to hunt again. Dad says he can’t wait for next year.

[CG :2 LineMatt KingFriday the 13th miracle!]
This was Matt’s first year bow hunting and he says he hunted nearly every day of the season. Finally on the last day, in the final minutes of the hunt, this dandy 3 point showed himself and Matt made the shot. A Friday the 13th miracle, a moment and lesson Matt will re-live over and over to never give up.

[CG :2 LineKyle ShupeHeavy Load]
How about this heavy buck Kyle took while hunting some wide open desert country of southern Utah. Kyle says, it was a two and a half mile pack out and that’s when his brother-in-law snapped this great shot of him with a full pack of meat, topped off with his big bucks antlers. Kyle says, he loves this kind of stuff.

[CG :2 LineR. Bryan SorensenWINNER!]
But our winner tonight had a little luck drawing a tag, and some good family and friends to help her bag a beast of a bull. 15 year old Claire Sorensen drew a limited entry Boulder rifle elk tag with only two points! Her dad Bryan has never taken a big bull, in fact has 17 points and has yet to draw. Opening morning found Claire, dad and two good friends Paul and Trent on the mountain. They found this great bull in an old logging area and old dead eye Claire, dropped the bull with one shot, 20 minutes into the hunt. The big bull scores just over 370 and fell right next to an old logging road, making the pack out, all the easier. A great memory, we hope you remember the rest of your life Claire and to help you, we’re sending your family our big prize from Camp Chef for having…the Snapshot of the week.
